River report 5/2

Flag Island!

River report 5/2

Postby Papa Boud on Mon May 04, 2009 11:13 am

Hey gang, the river is just about right. Water temps were 76 degrees both in the lake and up river. That is a jump of 6 degrees from the previous weekend. If we don't get much new water and the air temps hold this week in 80s water temps should be right for getting wet all over. haha Looks like the sand is holding on all the sand bars. A few boats were at Flag on saturday with beautiful partly cloudy skys and temps in the middle 80s. Seems like there were people camping on every sand bar. I hope everyone managed to make it through the rough weather we had on Sunday morning. I would like to add to the boats who ski in the upper river, to please be aware of the areas where the channel gets really small and try not to ski in those areas because someone is going to get killed one day after falling and getting run over by another boat or someone is going to tear up a nice boat avoiding the situation. I saw persons fall in these areas three times Saturday and oncoming boats had to slam on the brakes (so to speak) and/or go out of channel to avoid both the boat and skier. Use common sense folks. Boat traffic on the upper river is going to be increasing drastically over the next few weeks so be aware and be careful so everyone will have many a safe and enjoyable trip the rest of the summer. It only takes one fool to ruin a good thing for everyone, so don't end up being that fool. Obey the boating rules of the road, be courtious and just use common sense. No off my soap box and looking forward to heading out again next weekend. Happy boating.
