New Motor Break in went AWESOME! Im so Stoked! (and tired)

Postby forumguy on Sun Jun 22, 2008 9:17 am

Spent all day at the point and running around the res doing the initial 5 hour break in on my new motor. Had one small scare went my temp hit 200. Called the dealer and they said my new lower unit water pump splines had to "flex" and break in. They said run it hard for a bit and all would be well. Sure enough, temp came down just like they said! The boat handles like a brand new machine! I can't wait until after the first initial 10 hours of run time so I can peg the throttle and really see what it will do! Was kinda weird smelling casting paint burning in on the block, but the dealer said that was normal and would go away quickly. Would have been more fun with some company, but I had fun anyway! Now I gotta scrounge up gas money to get to Flag today maybe, if not then just the point again and get another 5 hours in at least! I ended at phillips on the res and the waitress says they have a band starting at 4 tommorow, so I'll prolly wind up there tied off to the dock. Ill basically be living on Flag starting the week of the 30th thru the weekend of the fourth for my vacation tho! (unless the beer runs out).

Hey Bro,

Good to hear you're back on the water. I am going to the Point/Cove today as well. Saving gas. got about 8 people with me. Look for us if you get out there today. White, blue and gold Glastron with blue bimini top with an old bald headed guy wearing a straw cowboy hat driving. We also have a freind with a pontoon meeting us there along with some freinds driving and walking out to the boat. Ought to be a party. Good luck with the new motor and see ya out on the Rez I hope.
